University railway station is ready to welcome supporters heading to Edgbaston for the four of the test match between England and Pakistan.

Those of you reading this will know that I have been working with the team at West Midlands Railway for the last couple of years to improve the accessibility of the stations they manage for rail passengers who have disabilities or mobility issues.

Blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words “for mobility assistance, please wait here” can be found in the centre of the platforms at the station.

There is also signage mounted to pillars positioned directly behind the spaces which indicate where to wait should you require assistance to board trains home or back into Birmingham city centre if the platforms are congested.

When supporters arrive back at the station after the days play which starts at 11:00 they should head to the dedicated waiting spaces on the platforms to wait for there train to arrive if requiring assistance.

If you would like to book your assisted travel ahead of time, this can be done up to 2 hours before departure in 1 of 3 ways:

By Phone: 0800 024 8998 or by using Next Generation Text – 18001 0800 024 8998.

Online: https://booking.passengerassistance.com.

By using the Passenger Assistance App: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/passenger-assistance/id1542190496.

However you do have a right to just turn up at a railway station and travel without booking any assistance prior to travel.

However you do have a legal right to just turn up and go without booking any assistance prior to travel.

I wish all those attending the match later a safe, successful and enjoyable afternoon and thank them for taking the time to read this reminder about the accessibility provision that is on offer for supporters at University railway station near the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

Finally thank you to each and everyone of you, my regular readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts it does not go unnoticed and us of course very much appreciated.
