A number of railway stations managed by West Midland’s Railway have waiting spaces and signage on the platforms as the Horse of the Year show comes to Birmingham, the show runs from the 7th to the 11th of this month and is at the national exhibition centre and bp pulse arena.
Stations around the region with these new accessibility tools include: University, Selly Oak, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Lea Hall, Stretchford, Droitwich Spa, Four Oaks, Chester Road and Erdington.
Those of you reading this right now will know that I began working the team from the operator in the November of 2023 to improve the accessibility of the railway stations which they manage for those with mobility issues or disabilities.
The spaces come in the form of blue and white boxes which feature a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here”.
If you are heading to the show from one of the stations listed above either today or over the next couple of days and require some assistance to board trains whilst heading to the NEC, your assisted travel can be booked up to 2 hours before departure in any of the following ways:
By Phone: 0800 024 8998 or by using Next Generation Text – 18001 0800 024 8998.
Online: https://booking.passengerassistance.com.
Using the Passenger Assistance App: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/passenger-assistance/id1542190496.
However you do have a right to just turn up at any railway station and travel without booking any assistance prior to departure.

It is only right that I take the opportunity to thank the teams at railway stations in and around Birmingham for there support in ensuring that members of our community who are travelling to the show at the NEC this week by rail can do so with ease and confidence.
Your support with this has not gone unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated and always will be.
Finally, thank you to each and everyone of you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
