In the last few hours or so I have visited the King Power Stadium in Leicester as the England Lionesses took on Greece in a 2027 FIFA World Cup playoff, a lot of planning went into attending the match because I am a wheelchair user and have not visited the local area or stadium before.
Whilst following the lionesses over the years I have been to Molineux in Wolverhampton, Old Trafford in Manchester, The Amex Stadium in Brighton, St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton and Wembley stadium in the capital, London.
All of the football grounds I have followed the ladies to have been really accessible which is something I look out for ahead of my visit and this one was no different.
Prior to travelling here I visited the website of Leicester City football club to see what accessibility information about the stadium was on there because they were the football club from league one hosting the encounter between the two nations.
To say that I was impressed by what I both found once inside the stadium and what I read on the clubs website beforehand is most definitely an understatement as not all football clubs act in this manner.
The clubs access guide went in to extensive detail about what support is on offer to any supporters visiting the stadium and included directions for walking or wheeling from Leicester train station to the stadium, where the accessible seating is located throughout the stadium, there was also information about the club being able to loan supporters blankets and waterproofs during there visit if required.
Getting refreshments is another important part of any experience when visiting a football stadium or venue for me and this was spoken about in detail within the accessibility guide for supporters.
There was also the mention of accessible cuterly within the guide and this is something which I have not seen before whilst visiting stadiums and other concert venues across the nation.
Once inside the stadium I simply could not fault the experience and interactions that I had with club staff and the stewards who ensured that I had everything needed to enjoy the match and of course the experience of visiting a new football stadium in another part of the Midlands.

It is only right that I take the opportunity to praise the support given to disabled supporters by stewards and club staff whilst at the King Power Stadium for this evenings international fixture between the England lionesses and Greece.
Your support was quite simply phenomenal and did not go unnoticed, please keep doing what you are for members of our community as it is top class and puts other venues and football clubs to shame.
Finally, thank you to each and everyone of you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
