In the last few hours or so I have used the assisted travel service at Leicester railway station which is operated by East Midlands Railway.
After arriving at the station early to ensure that I was able to make myself known to station staff, I was told where to wait ahead of the train’s arrival at 09:50.
Once the service had arrived in Leicester I was assisted onboard the train by station staff with the use of a ramp and sent on my way back to New Street railway station in Birmingham.
My message to staff at Leicester railway station is this, the assisted travel service which you delivered this morning was quite simply first class.
Thank you for delivering first class assisted travel, something you don’t always receive at every railway station.
Unfortunately in recent months I have experienced some shocking assisted travel support across the railways in the West Midlands, which has not gone unnoticed.
Passengers like myself have no other choice but to use services like these when trying to keep some independence within everyday life.

I would like to take the opportunity remind all disabled rail passengers that it is okay to speak out when you feel that something is not quite right when using the assisted travel services across the rail network in the United Kingdom.
Finally, thank you to each and everyone of you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it has not gone unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated and always will be
