Those who are there to support the disabled community to remain independent should not be talking about us in a disgusting manner.

People working to support those with disabilities or mobility issues should not be talking about us in a disgusting manner.

Throughout my life I have always been told “ if you haven’t got anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”

Clearly that mantra does not apply to network rail’s assisted travel team at New Street railway station in Birmingham.

Having worked in a public facing role as a ward clerk with St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford at the age of 18 i understand how to talk to people with understanding and care.

In recent years I have also completed an apprenticeship in business administration with the communications team at the local authority where I live.

Customer service training is clearly something that the assistance team either need to undertake or be refreshed in as soon as possible.

Today I am urging the managers at the station to ensure this takes place as a priority.

Manners and kindness do not cost anything compared to somethings in life.

It is only right that I take the opportunity to thank the staff members who do treat us with respect when delivering passenger assistance.

Your support and kindness doesn’t go unnoticed and is very appreciated and always will be.
