Hurry up and tell us how we are going to be affected by these cuts, not knowing isn’t doing our mental wellbeing any good!!!!

I am still in limbo along with thousands of other disabled people following the chancellors spring statement in the House of Common’s yesterday afternoon (Wednesday the 26th of March, 2025). There was limited mention of personal independence payment (PIP) and how those claiming it will be affected by the latest cuts.

The government say that they want to support the most vulnerable people within our society and make the welfare system “more sustainable’. Supporting those who are able to work back into it and lifting them out of poverty is there number priority.

As a stakeholder (claimant of PIP) all I want is to know where the spring statement and last weeks welfare benefit reform announcement leaves me as I try to live my best life in any way that I possibly can.

Those who require total support when showering score a total of 8 points in the daily living component of the assessment with those only requiring some support with this type of task scoring 4 points.

Does this mean claimants who score 4 points in a section will be moved onto low rate PIP, only time will tell.

My message to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Work and Pensions Secretary, Liz Kendall is a clear but simple one, please stop messing with our lives it isn’t funny anymore and this uncertainty is having a massive impact on our mental wellbeing.

As someone who receives the benefit I urge you to inform us as soon as possible how these changes are going to affect our lives moving forward, the way that you have handled this entire situation has been shocking ” you need to go away and consider how you are going to handle similar announcements like these in the future.

We aren’t toys that are there to be played with, we are human beings that have feelings!!!
